Under the British rule, in the year 1943, the Panthathu union was formed in accordance with the present Sadar Sadar and Sadar South upazilas under the first headquarters. At that time the chairman of the Union was called a village president. During the Pakistan rule in 1950, the title of the president of the village president was announced as the Union Chairman. In 1954, Ocheyuddin Sarkar became the first village president. Later, Golam Hossain Sarkar, Sadat Ali, was the President of the village. In 1967, Dr Reaz Uddin Sarker, the member of the Pakistan sub-division jury board, was nominated as the first union council chairman and he was the chairman of the union during the war of liberation.
There are two references to the names of Panchthubi union, which were dominated by Hindus in most of the villages of Panchthubi Union. Radharamen Singh and Ashu Singh were among the proud people of Panchthuvi village. They were the pioneers of the first Panthu union. Panchasthubi Union is one of the busiest union in the Model Sadar upazila. In the year 2016 Mr. Md. Iqbal Hossain is the Chairman of this Union.
